About my youth group – I have a group of nine people, mix boys and girls. They basically came in class for film-making, which we does every year in manzil. Apart from film-making classes, we actually focus on our surrounding social issues. It is a important part of our film-making classes. We observed that through film-making we actually think deep about any issues.
Same thing I am doing in my film-making class, this time we chose an issue, which is HIV Aids. People this issue is little boring (feedback from people), but still it has very good leaning points, negative-positive both.
One of our associates in manzil said that `I close my ears, when I heard about HIV Aids` then she gave her reason too. Which is that `people making me so much irritating when they speak these repeating information. Then I had a question in my mind that `then what we do? Should we stop all these things? Which are helping millions of people to save their life... I am telling you because, this thing we also include in our learning, People reaction and response about HIV Aids and also trying that why this mission in India got failed.
Productive work:
A short Video on HIV Aids – We are making a short video on HIV Aids, this is an exercise film, where we are trying to convince people talk openly about HIV Aids and leave their shyness or hesitation.
What we are filming in the film is not the showing same repetitive things of HIV Aids, instead of that we are saying” Open to talk about it”. Why?? Because, yet we don’t have any proper treatment to heal this infection or disease. It’s better to know about it.
A statistics which shared by Krishan (Krish) that, every year 80% of HIV cases happened just because of our shyness and hesitation ().
For e.g. asking for condom in chemist shops, parents hesitate to talk about this topic with their kids, feeling hesitate to do HIV test in government hospitals etc.
A Making of HIV Aids – The purpose of this making of not to show our work in Manzil film making classes, it is also about our learning through this ongoing process (filmmaking class).
We are actually planning to documenting the whole process of our filmmaking classes, whatever we are discussing (any issue), on location shooting process, technical problem while shooting, our interviews, Krish presentation on Women health, developing the ideas, brain-storming for any idea, sharing & gaining knowledge, question and answer between us etc. We are trying to documenting each thing whatever things are happening and after that we make film out of that.
Our main focus is to show what students gained from this process apart from filmmaking things. (this film will take long time, to cover many angles of the story, it will finish by the end of the February)
A Story (written) on Active citizenship – it is a true story which can be link with active citizenship & individual responsibility.
Brief of the story; it is a story of a man and child, a man who daily goes office from the same rout, and one day he met accidentally with this child, who actually lost at a place called Pragati Maidan (the child is belongs to very poor family, wear torn dress), doesn’t remember his home address and telephone number. The child urges the man to drop him his home and men in a dilemma that what should he do? Should I drop him his home, why should I drop him??? The story is all about if we see someone in problem so what’s our responsibility as human being in society?
(Story is not complete yet…but I’ll send you one copy)
A special session on HIV Aids – with a resource person
We had put a special session on HIV Aids, where we know more about this issue deeply. The session was facilitate by Krishan (one of the student in our class, and also a sex education teacher) Krishan working with some NGOs from last six years on Sex Education. We insist him to facilitate workshop for us.
We were around ten people in class; Krish also shared his Power point presentation in class which he made on women health. Then he start the class with a question `why do we know about HIV Aids` people has different views about it. Then he said that cause of we don’t have any proper treatment about this issue it’s better to know about it.
Then we discussed how people get infected & what people mentality about this issue. After some time we went in deep discussion, which is very painful part of HIV infected person, about his life. How these people survive, when they get infected, what social pressure on them etc. we got a feedback from students that they never knew about this issue so much deeply, it’s a goof learing for them. It’s really shocking for them.
I will also send the video which we had discussed about it. This is my December and January report. I hope you like it.
